Publisher’s Message: The “Magic Lantern”

It’s time for an exciting new era in the life of the New York – Pennsylvania Collector. Beginning with the May issue, we will become a a free digital magazine at www.nypa-collector.com. It will remain a monthly publication on-line. Much like a “magic lantern” presentation of the 1890s that offered the audience a topic in a new and colorful way, the internet will offer trusted antiques information “on demand” in digital form. Our “magic lantern” website is already undergoing some “refinishing” as the last print issue goes to press.

We look forward to the advantages of the on-line capabilities of the new-old Collector with reliable delivery and better and larger reproduction of pictures in articles and from shows and auctions. We’ll have more space for articles and news releases and our advertising patrons will be able place ads on a more flexible deadline.

It is our plan that the Collector will see its readership expand by nature of the nearly borderless access for readers everywhere. The QR code in this colum and elsewhere in this issue will take most smart phones directly to the nypa-collector.com. To take full advantage, we hope our readers will “bookmark” the address on a full-size computer, laptop or tablet. We will also work with our show and dealer partners to keep the website in front of audiences everywhere.

As taste in antiques changes over time, we remain committed to what we fondly refer as “old enough to be an antique” to providing information on items people collect for enjoyment, to short essays on the history around us.

Take a peek at www.nypa-collector.com if you aren’t alread a regular at our “digital magic lantern.”
