The weekend of September 16 & 17 is a great time to plan a trip to Schoharie County. Schoharie, rich in natural beauty and steeped in history, offers so much to any visitor.
Held on the grounds of the Schoharie Valley Railroad Museum, the backdrop is a perfect setting for this antique show. The Museum is open to show goers and the grounds, as well as all the buildings, are filled with antique dealers. There will be over 100 dealers inside, outside and under the tents! The entire complex is transformed into a treasure trove laden with antiques and collectibles of all ages. Whatever it is you are searching for will be sure to be there! And then the food… Our famous lunch offerings will be served once again–homemade pies, cakes, brownies and cookies plus Ralph’s chili, soup, and sandwiches made to order. Enjoy our outdoor cafe under the big tent.
Following in the tradition of Colonial women, the Schoharie County Quilt Barn Trail (SCQBT) is encouraging residents of the county to air their quilts, displaying them outside on clotheslines, porches, wherever they wish. There will be many quilts aired all day Saturday, September 16 at the Fall Antiques Show (rain date is Sunday, September 17). For more information of the Quilt Trail, visit their website at www.quiltbarntrail.com and like them on Facebook (search SCQBT) to get updates as the date approaches.
This show is completely run by Schoharie Colonial Heritage Volunteers and is one of our largest fund raisers to support our ongoing activities, especially the 1743 Palatine House–the oldest building in Schoharie County–and the Schoharie Valley Railroad Museum. For more information about Colonial Heritage Association, go to SchoharieHeritage.org. Membership is open to all! Call 518-295-7505 (office) or Ruth Anne Wilkinson, Show Manager at 518-231-7241.
