The Antique Dealers Association of Berks County, PA, or ADABC, proudly present their 5th Annual Kempton Antique Show scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20 at the large Kempton Community Recreation Center, located at 83 Community Center Drive in Kempton, PA. This year’s edition will feature around 45 exhibitors offering an impressively wide variety of quality antiques and collectibles, items from the early 1700s to modernism but with a distinct “Pennsylvania Dutch” flavor.
There will be American country furniture, both refinished and in original paint, textiles such as quilts, rag rugs, samplers, coverlets and hooked rugs, pottery like redware, stoneware and Staffordshire, vintage toys made of wood, tin, fabric and celluloid, metalware including pewter, cast iron, tin and hand wrought iron, weathervanes, utilitarian baskets, estate jewelry, woodenware like butter prints, rolling pins and other kitchen collectibles, early lighting, Native American pottery, rugs and jewelry, and much more. In short, because it’s an association show, there will be something for nearly every collector.
Berks County has a storied reputation as a great source of antiques for collectors, dealers and decorators. And, the ADABC has a long history in Berks. This professional organization was founded in 1948/49 by a group of antiques dealers who were legends in the antiques community. They staged their first show in 1952 and were charted as a non-profit in 1954.
Since that first show in 1952, the ADABC has promoted numerous annual and semi-annual antique shows in a variety of venues in the Reading area. Five years ago, in an effort to improve and update it, the show committee moved the event to the Kempton Community Center, choosing an October date that didn’t conflict with any other local shows. This location was carefully selected to better reach the Lehigh Valley, as well as neighboring Pennsylvania counties, along with New Jersey customers.
