Sarasota Estate Auction owner Andrew Ford announced the Pre-Fall two day Fine Art and Antiques Extravaganza Saturday and Sunday September 18-19, 2021. His latest sale a monumental event will feature over 1,500 lots of American and Continental paintings, a lifetime collection of antique French mantle clocks, Chinese antiquities and relics, furniture from early European and American periods as well as a rare single owner’s collection of colored Steuben Glass.
The two day sale with over 1,400 lots also includes Chinese, American and European bronzes; Marble Sculptures and porcelains from the Seventeenth Century.
Decorative arts and furnishings from the last 400 years will include paintings from American George Inness [1854-1926]. Often called “the father of American landscape painting,”[4][5][6] Inness is best known for his mature works that not only exemplified the Tonalist movement but also displayed an original and uniquely American style. An original piece by Howard Chesner Behrens [1933-2014] a popular American artist whose original works of art are sold in fine art galleries, at auction on cruise ships, and even at Costco. About his work he was known to have said “Many years ago, I learned that the only way I can really achieve what I feel in my paintings is to create them using a palette knife instead of a brush.” Additionally works from G.L. Brown [1814-1889], Henry Justice Ford [1860-1941], and R. Yoshida [1868-1912] will go under the gavel. Also works by Andy Warhol and Picasso will be on the block.
As always the auction will include exceptional furniture and home furnishings. One such example is the Chinese Chest, Eighteenth Century and more American, Continental and English furniture from the last 300 years will be available.
