February 29, 1936-August 17, 2023

Born February 29, 1936, a leap year baby, allowing her to adjust the calendar to her advantage. In 1954, she was the most popular student at Queen of Hearts at Shamokin High School. She won a nursing scholarship to University of Pennsylvania. Employment as a practical nurse at Divine Providence Hospital, Williamsport, PA and private duty nurse, Lock Haven, PA formalized Gloria’s life-long desire and ability to dispense emergency aid and wellness therapy in everyday and crises situations.
In 1973, Gloria and partners, established the Lycoming Antique Center in Montoursville, PA (the area’s first antique co-op). Also, a partnership in Allenwood Americana Antiques, Allenwood, PA. (The area’s oldest existing antiques shop).
Gloria was well known throughout Eastern US as the “Azalea Lady” specializing in rare and unique antique china. Her huge customer base will always cherish the memory of the “Gloria Effect” which invariably transferred them from ordinary customers to soul mates.
Stating, “I don’t want to watch the grass grow”, she served several terms as a Gregg Township Supervisor when the virulent “Gloria Effect” morphed into politics.
Gloria’s family, friends and customers will miss her dearly, knowing she was: a compassionate human being, happy spirit in life, optimistic for the future, and convinced of success in life.
The Williamsport Home staff, officers and doctors gave Gloria outstanding professional care during her long stay (which included election as a Resident Representative by her peers) and end of life August 17, 2023.
